The way we get things done.
A Short Guide To Our Process
1. CONSULTATION
The best way to find the right frame for your artwork is to come and visit us in our shop. There we will guide you through samples of different materials and styles as well as mounting, glazing and hanging solutions.
We can’t wait to show you what’s possible!
Alternatively, you can also reach us via email or give us a call – we don’t bite.
2. BESPOKE FRAMING
All our frames are assembled in our workshop by skilled craftspeople. We work with a diverse range of specialist manufacturers which enables us to offer an exceptionally wide range of profiles that will suit every project and budget.
3. MOUNTING, FITTING & HANGING
We use reversible conservation methods and archival materials to ensure the longevity of your artwork. You may have chosen a window mat, a raised float mount or a completely bespoke mounting solution.
There are also glazing options to consider. Aside from wonderful and budget-friendly standard picture glass, there is also conservation grade glass and acrylic that can mitigate against damage from harsh sun rays for more delicate and precious pieces.
Also, specialist anti-reflective surface glass that can be a fantastic luxury choice for some works, like textiles or pieces with fine detail.
Finally, we will advise and supply fixings on all the ways to hang finished frames in their new homes.
Our story so far.
And so far so good
Brown & Co is a local business ran by Pauline (mum) and Zoe (daughter – now also a mum). That’s us there. We were younger then.
Having a frame shop in the family has its perks. When Zoe was studying at The Royal College of Art, she was the only student with professionally framed work. Zoe says it was her passion and artistic vision that led to her success at art college. Pauline puts it down to the high-spec picture frames.
We’ve been framing pictures in our workshop since Peckham was just a twinkle in ol’ father hipster’s eye. A lot has changed since those days but our love of art and attention to detail hasn’t. So swing by the shop sometime. Let’s talk art, have a cuppa and together, find the perfect frame for your picture.
